Guest artists enhance Gold Coast’s smooth jazz CD,

Latitudes

Los Angeles, CA, April, 2001 --  Guitarist Jon Coleman, percussionist John Pickell, and bassist John Ugarte have combined their talents, this time as “Gold Coast”, and have released their debut CD, “Latitudes”.  (The three have composed, recorded and performed together off &  on  since the early 1980’s.)  Their music is a fusion of Latin, Caribbean and North African influences – an intermingling of guitar, percussion, strings, piano, woodwind and horns that create the special Gold Coast sound.

“Latitudes” was also infused with the talents of great jazz artists including Grammy nominees Patrice Rushen on keyboards, Ndugu Chancler and Terri Lyne Carrington on drums;  and Gerald Albright on saxes and flute; Dave Carpenter on acoustic bass; Oscar Brashear on trumpet; and Mamak Khadem on vocals.

“Having these talents interject their creativity into our work was a great experience,” said Jon Coleman.  “We started with just one artist, and others became involved when they heard about the quality project we were producing.”

“Latitudes” was nominated as Best Jazz Album at the 2000 Los Angeles Music Awards, and won for Best Jazz Guitarist (Jon Coleman).  The CD retails for $12.95, and is available at over 100 online sites, or directly via www.goldcoastmusic.net.  A portion of the proceeds from sales of “Latitudes” will be donated to cancer research programs.
