DIY Music Festival honors Jonathan Coleman & John Ugarte

as DIY Producer of the Year for collaboration on “Latitudes”

          Hollywood, CA, February 9, 2002 – The first annual DIY Music Festival Awards program here today at Vynyl is part of the second annual DIY Convention (Do It Yourself in Film, Music & Books) at the Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood.  The Awards honor musicians in the fields of Album (Susan Robkin’s “How To Say Goodbye”), Songwriter (Holly Light), Song (Tom Freund’s “Old And In The Way”), Album Art (Annette Farrington for “Azure Wonder and Lust”), and Producer (Jonathan Coleman and John Ugarte of Gold Coast for “Latitudes”).

Gold Coast’s music, a fusion of Latin, Caribbean and North African influences is also complemented by the talents of great jazz artists including Grammy nominees Patrice Rushen, Ndugu Chancler and Terri Lyne Carrington ;  and Gerald Albright, Dave Carpenter, Oscar Brashear and Mamak Khadem.  “Latitudes”  was mastered by Bernie Grundman, and is available online and at Sam Goody and Tower Record stores in southern California.

            In addition to receiving a certificate, the honorees will receive a subscription to “tonosPRO” an online service that allows musicians to have their work considered for various film & TV projects and grants consideration for compilation albums that are serviced to top music executives.
